Time to shoot some undead in Wii! Seri horor terkemuka keluaran Capcom, Resident Evil, kembali merambah pasar baru dengan seri The Darkside Chronicles. Dikenal pula dengan title Biohazard: The Darkside Chronicles di Jepang, on-rail shooting game ini dirilis tanggal 17 November 2009 di Amerika, menyusul Kanada di tanggal 27 November. Keduanya dijual secara paket dengan aksesori Wii Zapper. Plot cerita dikembangkan dari kisah-kisah personal beberapa karakter RE, serta beberapa tragedi yang diambil dari seri-seri RE terdahulu, terutama RE 2 dan RE Code: Veronica. Leon S. Kennedy dan Claire Redfield akan kembali jadi protagonis utama. Sedangkan untuk supporting character, gamer akan kembali bertemu dengan Ada Wong, Sherry Birkin, Steve Burnside, Chris Redfield, dan Albert Wesker. Kabarnya seluk beluk keluarga Birkin dan Ashford akan lebih banyak terkuak dalam game ini. Efek visual lain yang cukup menarik adalah efek serangan terhadap benda-benda kecil yang ditemui gamer sepanjang permainan. Banyak benda-benda yang nampak sepele, macam cangkir maupun hiasan pecah belah, akan hancur jika ditembak. Efek yang lebih menarik adalah jika gamer menembak sumber-sumber pencahayaan. Lampu terutama. Pasalnya, cahaya dalam ruangan akan meredup, atau mungkin gelap sama sekali, jika gamer menghancurkan sumber cahaya dalam ruangan tersebut.
Meski nama Resident Evil sudah dikenal dalam dunia game, sudah pasti sang developer tetap harus menyisipkan fitur-fitur unik untuk membedakan The Darkside Chronicles dengan game-game on-rail shooter lainnya. Kabar baik untuk para casual gamer, game ini di setting untuk mudah diadaptasi oleh gamer pemula sekalipun. Salah satu contoh, head shoot dapat disetting untuk jadi lebih mudah. Status screen pun dibuat untuk mempermudah gamer dalam mengubah senjata dengan D-pad. Tingkat kesulitan game akan meningkat seiring dengan bertambahnya skill gamer. So, tidak usah repot-repot mengubah setting difficilty.
Fitur unik lainnya adalah shaky cam, dimana tampilan akan bergetar hebat ketika gamer menghadapi situasi krisis. Tentu dikemas dengan tujuan meningkatkan ketegangan. Satu lagi fitur andalan The Darkside Chronicles adalah two-tier system, fitur yang memudahkan gamer membidik musuh dengan menggunakan zoom. Fitur tersebut mempermudah gamer menciptakan damage yang lebih besar maupun serangan yang lebih jitu. Namun berhubung tingkat kecepatan serangan musuh cukup tinggi dan kuantitasnya besar, gamer harus jeli-jeli menggunakan fitur tersebut di momen yang tepat.
Treyarch, perusahaan developer game yang dahulu membuat Call of Duty :World At War, dilaporkan tengah menggarap seri baru Call of Duty dan kali ini tempat yang akan mereka kunjungi adalah Vietnam. Pihak Activison sendiri belum mengumumkan gamenya secara resmi, namun sebuah media bernama VentureBeat menuliskan jika Call of Duty: Vietnam akan muncul trailernya akhir minggu ini. Seperti game Call of Duty sebelumnya, dikatakan bahwa event dalam Vietnam War tidak hanya terjadi di satu lokasi saja.
